The Man I Never Knew (My Father’s Father)
Written by Jimmy Tittle · © All rights reserved
I’ve heard ‘em talk about my father’s father
I never knew him at all
They say I used to ride his knee
That’s a time that I can’t recall
I wonder if I’m anything like him
Sometimes I see myself walkin’ beside him
If I could do anything I want to do
I’d like to get to know the man I never knew
Sometimes when people die
Nobody talks about ‘em
And that’s a strange thing to me
Even though they’re gone
They can still live on in our memory
All I know is what I’ve seen in pictures
Faded black and white
Just to see him standin’ there I feel like
I should know him
Someday I think I might
